ICBC Fundraiser
The wonderful Heather Steans is giving a fundraiser for us at her home on October 6 , from 4 to 6 p.m.
Here is what Senator Steans says about ICBC and why she is doing this.
During my time in the Senate, I've come to know Illinois Citizens for Better Care and its executive director, Wendy Meltzer as the most effective voice for nursing home residents in Springfield. No other individual or organization comes close to matching the depth of their experience or the tenacity of their advocacy. They are our best resource for information about the challenges nursing home residents face and they are informed advocates for responsible de-institutionalization. I cannot imagine doing my work on behalf of residents without their knowledge and support.
I want ICBC to continue its essential work, not just during the legislative session, but also the work they do year-around establishing and supporting family councils in nursing homes and providing assistance to individual residents. ICBC's track record for raising money is not nearly as strong as their track record for advocacy. I want to help change that.
The host committee (in formation) includes:
Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. State Senator Daniel Biss. State Senator Jacqui Collins. Representative Barbara Flynn Currie. Representative Sara Feigenholtz. The Honorable Carol Ronen. Joyce Gallagher. Henry Bayer. Dave Lowitzki. Bob Gallo. Jonathan Lavin. Mark Ishaug. David Ellis. Mark Heyrman. Phyllis Mitzen. Dave Vinkler. Lurletha Ward. Nancy Flowers. Ann Fisher.
Some of the members of the committee may agree on little else but they know what ICBC does in protecting nursing home residents is invaluable.
We hope you can join us October 6 to support ICBC and meet some of the extraordinary people who already do.
When: Oct 6th 4-6pm
Where: 5348 N. Lakewood Ave
Chicago, IL 60640
Suggested minimum donation: $100.
